Road film will build up as you travel, leaves and twigs may find their way into your gutter and the necessity to close your awning when wet or damp may be necessary.

We recommend you wash your aluminum and fabric with a mild detergent and warm water. You may use a soft cloth or brush to clean your awning and we recommend leaving it out to dry before storage.

Before storing, squirt silicone spray (found at any hardware outlet) in moderation down each vertical track and at the left hand end of the gutter, spray the steel tab that protrudes through the end plate and then also lightly spray through the small hole. This will ensure that the arms roll smoothly up and down the vertical tracks and eliminate squeaks from the spring which may occur over time.

All installations of Cvana Awnings include this Rivnut bolt. It is designed to screw into the right hand gutter endplate to lock the roller tube and minimise noise and flap caused by wind lifting the roof fabric. If you have no Rivnut bolt or no place for it to screw into this may be because your Cvana is pre 2012.

If you do not have this feature installed or your Rivnut bolt does not work please contact Cvana for assistance.

A replacement Rivnut bolt can be purchased if you have misplaced it.

To avoid loss of warranty and or damage to your RV it is imperative that only guy ropes with a trace spring attached are used to provide support to your awning. These must not be installed with any tension on the spring whatsoever to ensure the Cvana can still move and that adverse downward pressure is not excerpted on the vehicle. Additionally poles can be purchased for added stability when you are using walls or enclosures.

New Zealand is known for four seasons in one day. When leaving your RV it is recommended that you put your Cvana away as it takes only three seconds to do. If you have curved roof rafters installed and your Rivnut screwed in then your Cvana should be OK to leave for short periods of time unless hit by freak and stormy winds. When deployed without a Rivnut, guy ropes with trace spring, curved roof rafters or an anti flap kit, your Cvana should automatically close itself in the event of strong winds.

Absolutely NOT! The roller tube is under immense spring tension and should only be removed by a professional with appropriate experience. Removal by a novice can result in serious injury.

Opening and Closing the Cvana Awning should always be a single person operation. Avoid applying pressure at any one end of the awning to reduce any chance of damage as it should be opened and closed from the centre.

When closed the Cvana awning is held in place with travel latches at the top of each arm as well as wingnuts at the bottom of each arm. The latches should be lifted and the wingnuts loosened before hooking the pulldown pole into the ring in the centre of the gutter.

When pulling the Cvana Awning towards you it is important to hold the pole with one hand at the bottom and the other half way up so as to support the awning as it comes down. Ensure the pole is held vertically to support the housing in the final stages of opening.  When closing ensure you are pushing the housing straight up, this will eliminate any loss of control that could result in damage.
